Apart from a lovely review (12 January 2010) on Skyline Radio, the local station that serves the Southern Parishes, Alex of South Hants CAMRA has this to say (17 January 2010) about the Horse and Jockey since Mike and Fiona took over (which he also kindly sent up to Fullers, who forwarded on to us):-

"I visited the Horse & Jockey on Friday for lunch.  I'm delighted to say that there have indeed been great improvements.

I've posted a report in the Southern Hampshire CAMRA Forum's "Pubs" section (http://www.shantscamra.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=198&p=711#p711 - registration required) which I repeat below:

"I visited the Horse & Jockey in Curbridge yesterday. This was my first visit since September, when the Beer Bus briefly dropped in there before moving on promptly.  In the in-between time, I'd received feedback from someone (with my CAMRA hat on) and passed on a complaint to Fuller's. My complaint received a very positive response and informed me that new managers would be in there soon.

I'm delighted to say that there's been a great improvement since my previous visit. The pub is now run by Mike & Fi, and has been turned back into a proper pub, unlike the gastro-pub eatery that it was failing to be before. Mike & Fi were very friendly and welcoming.

The beer was good. I drank the Seafarers Ale. There was also HSB and London Pride. Mike told me that he wasn't quite getting enough turnover to justify 3 casks simultaneously, and was considering dropping down to two cask ales in order to maintain quality. I applaud this sensible "reduced quantity to maintain quality" approach.

The real highlight was the food. It was all fresh and cooked to order. It was really good, wholesome food.  An example menu can be found on the pub's website: http://www.thehorseandjockeycurbridge.co.uk/

I'll be back to the Horse & Jockey soon, as I really want to support Mike & Fi in their efforts to turn this pub around and get it back to being the thriving pub that it once was. I believe that they've got the right attitude & approach, and encourage others to visit & spread the word like I'm doing."

Please do encourage your friends to give the Horse & Jockey another chance!

Alex."
